Here are three recommendations by Rachel Hollis about how the memorable presentation of your dishes will become your hallmark of entertaining:

  1. Do something that shows your guests you have put extra effort into making them feel special.  Celebrate the moment by bringing out your fine china pieces.
  2. Make signature statements by serving dishes in an unexpected way by using what is already in your home.  Rachel likes to use a vase as a serving dish for her 7 layer salad recipe.  Rachel enjoys presenting comfort food with a twist. For appetizers, she enjoys placing meatballs in a line of spoons, and she celebrates her southern heritage by serving a casserole in a cast-iron skillet. Rachel uses pie tins for her chicken potpies and bakes breakfast monkey bread in a bundt cake pan.
  3. Reinvent leftovers by changing the flavor palate. Her new cookbook encourages repurposing of recipes.  You can change the carnitas leftovers to a spicy pulled pork sandwich.

As we all appreciate, charity begins in the kitchen.  A special cause that is dear to Rachel’s heart is foster care.  If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, here is a link to find additional information in your own state: https://www.childwelfare.gov/nfcad/
