Trends at The International Home and Housewares Show

What are the latest trends in housewares?  The 2017 International Home + Housewares Show featured more than 2,200 exhibitors including over 400 new companies and 62,000 total attendees from around the globe.  Although I couldn’t visit every  exhibit, I noticed some trends that resonated.

  1. Copper Cookware continues to be hot.  Consumers have a variety of options at all price points.  Here is my kitchen chat with the delightful Cathy Mitchell, spokesperson for Red Copper Pans.  She also shares a great cooking tip for making perfect over-easy eggs.

2.  To Go containers for food and beverages are innovative and stylish.  Bradshaw International’s Good Cook has entered the hydration market with its newly launched GoBottle brand enabling the consumer to create and carry infused water.  There is a great recipe for infused Pineapple, Basil and Lime for GoBottle Sparkling Spa Water

Infusers for Water Bottles by Good Cook.

Taking lunch to school or work is stylish and easier thanks to World Kitchen’s Snapware Total Solution To-Go.  The colorful and affordable array of easy to pack and easy to carry containers will help everyone. And the website offers great tips and easy recipes.

3) Household products associated with celebrity names continue to be big sellers.  Emeril Lagasse featured his great cookware at the International Home and Housewares Show.  George Foreman’s indoor grill at Spectrum Brands was demonstrated by Food Network Star Chef Jeff Mauro, who is opening up at second Pork & Mindy’s in Chicago at Wrigley Field!  Also, Steven Raichlen launched his new Project Smoke spices and rubs product line at the show.

Charity begins in the kitchen.  During the 20th annual Housewares Charity Foundation (HCF) gala, the housewares industry came together to raise nearly $2 million that benefited  the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and No Kid Hungry.  Since the first gala in 1998, HCF has raised $49 million which includes donations of $28 million to the BCRF.  As a five year breast cancer survivor, I am especially grateful.

What are some of your favorite housewares?

Savor the day!
